Martin Young is a transplanted Englishman living in Santa Ana, California. He is finishing his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of California, Irvine. (Dissertation topic: self-esteem) He teaches philosophy at Mount S. Marys College and El Camino College. He has been interested in philosophical counselling for several years, and fo the last two years has co-organized panels on philosophical counselling at the Southern California Philosophy Conference. He recently began holding Socrates Cafes at a coffee shop in Santa Ana. Although he has done informal philosophical counseling, he has not yet seen a single paying client. Martin will be seeking primary certification (Level I Training for Counselors) in client counseling in the APPA's 3-day program this Fall in Lancaster, California.
