Bio Sketch

Marie-France Lebouc was trained as an economist. This left her with an unquenchable thirst for sense-making! That is why she plunged into ethics and how she ended up writing a PhD dissertation on the making of the Other in business settings, thus earning her PhD from Laval University, in Quebec City, Canada.

After working as a university professor in Eastern Canada, she was hired five years ago at her alma mater, the department of management at Laval University. Managerial ethics are both her teaching and research areas of specialization. She is also an active member of the IDEA or Institute for Applied Ethics which provides her with the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team of applied ethicists, including purebred philosophers.

Marie-France uses philosophical ethics in meaningful conversations to teach, conduct research interviews or counsel managers. “Philosophical ethics” is used here to contrast with the legal-compliance oriented questioning that is the object of mainstream business ethics.

Marie-France is an easily approachable person, an eternal optimist and a strong believer in the virtues of laughter. Located in beautiful Quebec City, she offers services in both English and French and is available for one on one counselling sessions as well as for facilitating organizational think tank sessions.
